To become a face known around the world.
TB Project 51 may only be picked up if you are prepared to do the following:
1. Take a photo of it infront of a sign, building, or landmark etc... showing where he is. For example, a picture of him hanging
off a "Welcome to Alaska" sign. Or perhaps have your kids hold it while standing in front of the Coffs Harbour Fish and Chip shop. (go to the link for Project 51.1 below for some great examples) This photo must be uploaded onto this TB's homepage. (feel free to blur your face if you like)
2. You must give him a name. If you think he looks like a "Eustace", then the caption for the picture should read "Eustace in Coffs Harbour" etc...
Take him where ever you want! Use your imagination and have fun with him. SEE BELOW FOR ADDITIONAL CHALLENGES!
IF YOU PLAN TO KEEP THIS TB LONGER THAN 14 DAYS, PLEASE LET US KNOW @ foammilitia77@gmail.com. WE WOULD PREFER THAT HE ONLY BE KEPT THIS LONG IF IT WILL HELP HIM MOVE INTERNATIONALLY
This TB one of a series of TB's travelling the world. All six TB's can be accessed via these links:
PROJECT 51.0, PROJECT 51.1, PROJECT 51.2, PROJECT 51.3, PROJECT 51.4, PROJECT 51.5.
WHAT IS PROJECT 51 ALL ABOUT?
Project 51 is the brainchild of Gordon Exit and Joe Moccasin. (names may or may not have been changed from Tim and Pete to protect the innocent) The original concept has nothing to do with geocaching at all, rather a psychological experiment in how people would react to being bombarded with images of a kid they didn't know. Sound strange? You bet it is!
The picture you see is neither Gordon nor Joe, but an old school friend of Joe's that he found very amusing (the picture, not the friend). How could you not get a laugh out of it....bowl cut, dilated pupils, goofy smile...
Gordon and Joe's sense of humour dictates that never a dull moment should pass while at work. Upon seeing the picture for the first time, Gordon saw the potential in it lightening the atmosphere of their workplace. And thus, the idea of PROJECT 51 was conceived....
"How would people react to this picture appearing
randomly across their workplace? What kind of person would love it,
and who would hate it?"
It was printed onto magnets and stuck up in random places where everybody would have a chance to see him. On the vending machines, first aid cabinets, poles, clock-on stations, doors...everywhere. A year and a half on and the reactions were awesome. People were confused at first, but the theories and mysteries surrounding it became so great that it has developed almost a cult following. Packages were mailed to random people throughout the workplace containing new magnets, and without even questioning who had sent them to them, people just started sticking the magnets up around work. Much to the surprise of Gordon and Joe, Project 51 had become a fully self-propelled operation. People were requesting to be part of it with absolutely no knowledge of who the masterminds were.
Spreading him around work was great, but the potential of the picture seems so much greater. Gordon and Joe have started setting challenges for each other to see where they can get the picture placed or seen. Local wasn't good enough though, it had to go worldwide! That’s where you come in……the more unique and interesting places he is photographed, the better.
If you've got a favourite place, take him there. Going on holiday? Put him in your suitcase! Think your neighbour could use a laugh? Have him hold it for a picture! Your dog curious about it? Let him lick it! We don't care where he goes or what he does, as long as a picture is taken, a name given, and the picture uploaded.
A Facebook Group has been set up where you can see all Caching and non-caching pictures that have been submitted to date, along with all other thing related to the Project. Search Facebook for the group "Project 51 Collective" Join in. DO IT!
