besichtigbar.

Die Anlage 2 hatte 3 Maschinengewehre und einen Kampfstand für Handfeuerwaffen. Dazu ist er mit der Anlage 3 verbunden.

Viele Grüße

During our holiday in South Tyrol, this TB also passed by here.

The Bunker with a Heart is part of the Alpine Wall.

In the years from 1935, but especially from 1939 to 1942 in connection with the annexation of Austria to the German Reich, the fascist regime in Rome ordered the completion of the Italian Alpine Wall towards the north on the border with the German Reich. In the west towards France and in the east towards Yugoslavia, the Alpine border had already been fortified earlier.
Almost 800 bunkers were planned for South Tyrol, of which about 400 were built in several construction phases, although large parts of them remained in shell or unfinished until the end of the construction work. Among other things, the protest of the Third Reich, which was in an alliance agreement with Italy, had led to the suspension of construction work.

The barrier in Saltaus was already planned at the end of the 1930s and was intended to protect the city of Merano from attacks from the Passier Valley,
which could have come via the Jaufen or Timmel Pass. Since the construction work had not yet begun in 1940, the project was
the project was revised according to the new circular 15,000 and instead of the 5 simpler installations, 8
which could also withstand heavy calibres. The anti-tank trench, however, was not built. All installations
were completed, but not equipped and put into operation. Some of the installations were, however, equipped in the 50s and
and operated as active installations until 1994. Today, the installations are privately owned and, with the exception of installation 8, cannot be visited.
visitable.

Annex 2 had 3 machine guns and a combat stand for small arms. It is connected to Annex 3 for this purpose.

Part 2:

They also called on the people of Weinheim to join them after they had occupied the city gates, but they barricaded "shutters, doors and gates" and the council refused to participate in the resistance against the French.
This was probably because a town like Weinheim was less likely to be attacked by looting and quartering troops than village settlements. In addition, there was probably a fear of possible retaliation by the French.
The enemy troops, far outnumbering the peasants, were nevertheless forced by them to retreat.

But in October, the French under General Ney were back on the Bergstrasse, occupying Weinheim on the 15th of the month, Mannheim the following day, and subsequently there was further fighting in the Birkenau valley, on the slopes of the Hirschkopf and the Gorxheim valley.

On 30 November, "as there was heavy fog, the French attacked standing outposts, a shotgun blast from the village, which was occupied by the French. These retreated, (but) the French followed, although one was shot dead and two blessed. Captain Zengel and other Kurmainz troops and militia got into order and awaited the enemy in the small fir forest above Birkenau Castle."

This probably happened between the vineyards at Hirschkopf and Birkenau's Tannenbuckel, according to contemporary accounts.

"As soon as they (the outposts) reached us, we went forward again, and supported by a few soldiers we beat back the enemy. After an hour he attacked again, and we then drove him back once more without losing anyone and pursued him to Weinheim.
We would have gone even further if we had not been informed by spies that the enemy was waiting for us in Weinheim to intercept us. So we left it at that and placed our beautiful Turkish music on the high vineyard in front of Weinheim and let the French play to witness our joy at their escape. They scolded us ungodly about it, we laughed at them and went home."

Part 1:
Weinheim 1799 "The Peasants of the Odenwald
In 1799, the Electoral Palatinate was once again the theatre of war, as it had been so often before. Revolutionary France was fighting against a coalition including Great Britain, Austria, Russia, the Ottoman Empire, Portugal and Naples.
On 2 March the French conquered Mannheim, on 4 March Heidelberg and the Neckar valley. They had a highly motivated army which, unlike their opponents, consisted of conscripted or volunteer citizens. On the slopes of the Bergstrasse, however, they encountered an enemy on 19 and 20 April that was a match for them in terms of combat readiness.
In the area of the Gorxheim valley and in the area around the Hirschkopf in the Birkenau valley, they encountered Odenwald farmers who had entrenched themselves there and opposed the further advance of the French in the manner of a people's army.
A Prussian courier writes about this:

"When I entered Weinheim, the French cavalry had just been driven out by the peasants and had positioned themselves in the field; the number of peasants could well be about 2000 men. Many were armed with rifles and shotguns, the others with scythes and the like.
The whole road from Weinheim to Heppenheim was in an uproar, in all the villages the storm bells could be heard ringing, and from every nook and corner the peasants could be seen running together."

When he returned from Frankfurt, however, it was quiet along the Bergstrasse as far as Weinheim.

" ... here, on the other hand, the peasants had raged all night, and the French had to give up occupying this town as they had done hitherto. Their vedettes (outposts) stood far into the field, and the peasants had occupied the vineyards. They had proper outposts and piquets (units to support the outposts), and at given signals they break in heaps from the mountains into the valley.
I learned from the postmaster that they had but few imperial military among them, but that they expected a larger number. The French are not allowed to approach the foot of the mountains; as soon as they dare to do so, the peasants shoot from the vineyards."
The Odenwalders did this against the will of their authorities, who were negotiating a peace treaty with the French in Rastatt.
"According to reports, they were ordered by the authorities, on the orders of the Elector, to lay down their arms and keep quiet, but they are said to have refused to do so."

I saw it at the carnival event in St. Anton (Austria) and took it with me. Many thanks for the TB!
In my home, the Kurpfalz, there are some battlefields (for example the world-famous Heidelberg Castle) and the Maginot Line is not far away either.
Let's see where the journey goes ...

Best regards
