Current Goal

I've no specific mission - just want to roam from cache to cache. Of course, visiting a cache near a computer software, firmware or hardware manufacturer, or an electronics retailer would always be nice...

About This Item

current TB: Sony 74 disk

The updated TB is now a blue Sony 74 Digital Audio Recording Micro Disc.  This disc format, capable of recording 74 minutes of audio instead of the then-standard 60 minutes, was introduced in 1992 but never became as popular as Sony had hoped.  It became even less popular with the introduction of CDR's and flash drives, and was eventually discontinued in 2013.

Originally this TB # was assigned to a lime green 100meg ZipDisk. That TB was last seen 7 years ago (in 2012) and is presumed lost.

Picked this one up today, I saw it and started laughing. I remember using these in college for about a year, right before flash drives came out.

This is my second time to discover this one - and don't call it "dead tech!" I still have a recipe collection on one of these, and use it now and then - slow and monochromatic, but still alive. I would transfer it to something more modern, but everyone I have asked says it is not possible. Oh well, happy traveling!

Discovered It 11/6/2010 pootwaddle discovered it   Visit Log

Discovered this in Ash's Caches at Two Bridges Park. I remember them, and had quite a few.
They were high capacity but not very reliable (in my experience, anyway). I'm glad I could move
all my data to CDs.

Great idea for a travel bug!

Saw this traveler in a cache but chose to leave it there.
