We wonder if Saint Chad of Mercia is our namesake. In Anglo-Saxon, that is Caedda or Ceadda. According to the Venerable Bede, Chad travelled about Ireland as a monk, and in 663 AD became Bishop of York and in 669 Bishop of Mercia at Lichfield. He died on 2 March 672, thus March 2 is celebrated as his feast day.
Chad was known for his humble service as a missionary, always walking (like his Lord) rather than riding a horse. Like us, he enjoyed singing.
His vision was to seek and save that which is lost. Seems that's a lot like what geocaching is. Once you've found the Trail, nothing else will satisfy.
This Travel Bug is known as an Evangecube, containing the same message carried by St. Chad. Before passing it along, please open it and see if you can decode it. For help, click here. If you've found the "One to Find (OTF)" please send us an email.
Whoops - one cacher reported that the cube is missing from the carrying case (as of Feb 2009); sorry about that. Click the link above to see what this puzzle was all about. Thanks and enjoy the Journey.
