Current Goal

My goal is NOT to visit outhouses around the world. I'd really like to go to places that would be great outhouse locations. I'd love to have pictures posted of the places that I visit.

About This Item

Outhouses can probably be found the world over, but I think the moon and star on the door is an American twist. The moon designated the ladies "room" while a star or sun designated the men's. Because the women's outhouses were better maintained, they outlasted and soon outnumbered the men's. The door with the moon has become the prodominant emblem for the American outhouse.
