The Story: This little bit of jewelry came to us in a box of junk jewelry from an estate sale. There is nothing special about it except that it came from a house that is suppose to be haunted by the ghost of a woman and her daugher who were mysteriously drown in 1901 and whose murders were never solved. It was always suspected that the husband committed the murders, but he disappeared days before the drownings and no trace of him was ever found. To this day no one knows what happened to him. It took some time for the family and the courts to decide what to do with the house, but eventually when enough years went by, the man was declared dead and the family moved on by selling the house and its contents. It wasn't until the first family moved in that someone realized something was not right about the house.
The house had been sold to a bank manager and his wife. As fate would have it, they had a daughter who was almost the same age as the drowned girl. At first the family was happy in the home. It was a big, brightly lit four square house with two floors and a large attic. Plenty of room for a family that would soon be adding on a second child. The only problem was that the little girl became terrified of water while living in the house. It became so bad that shortly before their second was born, the family had to place the little girl in the hospital where she immediately got better. It was then that a neighbor told them the horrible story of the house's past. The family sold the house never to return even to the area.
For a long time the house remained vacant until finally the story was lost and again someone purchased the house and moved in. This time it was a woman from New Orleans whose husband had died in WWII. She brought with her two cats, a parrot and a chest full of objects that the people down at the local church called devil's toys, but were really just the artifacts of her religion that just happened to be a blend of Voodoo. The woman lived in that house until she grew old and finally died. As far as anyone knew, she was happy there and if there were spirits there with her, no one ever knew about them. That is until her death when all sorts of things began to happen in the house. Though empty of people, neighbors would swear at night they heard a mother and child talking together and laughing and sometimes, in the morning, wet foot prints would lead up the walk way to the front door like someone in their barefeet had walked the path and disappeared at the door. Lights would come on and off at night and most disturbing of all, none of the neighborhood dogs or cats would come close to the house.
Quickly it spred through the neighborhood that someone had broken into the house to see what was going on and had read a journal written by the woman where she detailed how she had kept the spirits at bay all those years with her religious practices and how she knew once she was gone, they would be released again. There was nothing they could do about it and they just tried to keep it quiet so it wouldn't hurt their own property values.
This is where we came into the scene. As members of a local paranormal group, we sought to get into the house and to investigate what was going on in this old house. We wanted to help, but the family of the woman rejected our offer. Instead, they hired someone to run an estate sale and sell the contents of the house. Their plan was to empty it out, do some repairs and sell the house too. Fortunately for us, the real estate sale company they hired had worked with our group several times on other haunted houses and we gained access to the house while they were getting the sale ready. After bringing in monitors, cameras, sound equipment and everything a modern paranormal researcher has at their disposal, we managed to piece together a story from EVPs and reseach that convinced us that the story about what was in the journal was true. The woman had kept the hauntings at bay and now she was gone. Our only hope to help settle this house was to clear it of objects that we had reason to believe were tied to the hauntings. You hold in your hand one of those items.
We are sending this little bit of jewelry out into the world to travel because the best way to handle negative energy is to break it into smaller pieces and subject it to good energy. Travel brings good energy. Please don't take this item with you unless you are willing to have a haunted item in your possession for the short term. Do not take it unless you are willing to share your experiences with it and to pass it on to another for it to travel with them. It would be very, very bad for anyone to not pass this jewelry piece on or even to simply visit it to caches without sharing at least one story or a photo. Good luck!
Red stone in gold setting.
