Queen Anne's Revenge was a frigate, most famously used as a flagship by the pirate Blackbeard (Edward Teach). Like other pirates, Teach sometimes used the seclusion of the Eastern Shore to prepare his ship for sea. The guys at Blackwater Distillery on Kent Island tell a great story about how Blackbeard, while captaining the Queen Anne's Revenge, plunderd the sloop Betty, who was carrying a cargo of the King's Madeira wine. The crew then against orders broke into the wine and worked up a raucous drunk, eventually scuttling the Betty and sinking her to the bottom of the Bay.
Since I live on the Eastern Shore in Queen Anne's county, enjoy pirate stories, wine, rum, and boating I found it fitting to name the new geo-mobile after Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge.
She exhibits Blackbeard's Jolly Roger on the port & starboard stern portholes.
