About This Item

IMG_0647.JPG

This badge was my first, It was given to me in 1994. And I cherished it for years. Now I am sending it on a journey to let everyone know that this is the greatest job in the world.

“I HAVE ONE AMBITION IN THIS LIFE, AND THAT IS TO BE A FIREMAN. THE POSITION MAY, IN THE EYES OF SOME, APPEAR TO BE A LOWLY ONE; BUT WE WHO KNOW THE WORK WHICH THE FIREMAN HAS TO DO BELIEVE THAT HIS IS A NOBLE CALLING. OUR PROUDEST MOMENT IS TO SAVE LIVES. UNDER THE IMPULSE OF SUCH THOUGHTS, THE NOBILITY OF THE OCCUPATION THRILLS US AND STIMULATES US TO DEEDS OF DARING, EVEN OF SUPREME SACRIFICE.” CHIEF EDWARD F. CROKER, FDNY

The bug was NOT in the Coyote Den cache on 4/30 or 5/1/2010. Someone has taken it and not logged same. I hope it turns up!

Well, .... dropping him back off, I was able to get a little geocaching in, and get some miles for this one.

Right after I dropped this one off after I had it last, I noticed that the quote from Chief Crocker had fallen off and was still in my backpack. So......, I kept an eye on this one. When I had to go to Boston to get my son, and saw this one was right on the way, I had to perform a rescue mission! I owed it to the legendary FDNY Chief, and firemen NEVER let each other down. The quote sums it all up, and needed to be attached. After 15 years in the FDNY, I still think I have the best job in the world, and I'm sure Bro Man would agree with me.

I had plans to drop this one off in Boston, but due to limited time, I only printed up one cache page. When I got there, the cache location did not look too secure, and now I see that it appears that some TB's have in fact dissappeared from it, so I'm glad I didn't throw it in. I'll drop it off somewhere, unfortunately probably back on L.I.
