I saw that this TB was not far from where I live, so I quickly retrieved this cool traveler before it could get away. After reading about this TB and it's mission, I believed I had to play some part in it's amazing journey.
You see, Glacier National Park IS special. My family has been in Love with "Glacier" since before I was born. I too, grew up learning to respect and admire this National Treasure.
My Father was a Boat Captain with Glacier Park Boat Co. from 1963-68, giving tours on St. Mary Lake. His brothers were also captured by the "magic" of Glacier and found jobs with the Glacier Park Boat Co.. Instead of St. Mary Lake, my Uncle's Captained boats out of Many Glacier. I grew up hearing stories about their amazing adventures while living in the Park and look forward to their reminiscing.
My older brother became a boat Captain on Lake McDonald, again working for Glacier Park Boat Co., while two of my cousins have also given tours at Many Glacier.
Sadly, my Dad passed away at the end of 2008. In the summer of 2009, our family gathered at Glacier to spread my Father's ashes. On the way to St. Mary, while going over the "Going to the Sun" road (I am awe struck and amazed that your Dad helped build this modern marvel) we broke down. A radiator hose had blown, and we were stuck. A friendly man from Wyoming stopped and happened to have a hose clamp and a bunch of water. While sitting their (almost to the visitor's center and Mt. Clemens(Gorilla)) I was lucky enough to spot a wolverine. A rare sight indeed, even among the locals. We were soon on our way. After a moving memorial with family and friends, we spread my Father's ashes near "Eliason" rock on St. Mary.
I cannot describe the feeling that Glacier National Park gives me. It is a wondrous place that seems to wash my spirit clean. It can renew and cleanse the soul. No wonder my Dad Loved this place. I can't wait for our next visit to the Crown of the Continent. 😁
