Castigado por los dioses, se esconde en esta humilde habitación a cuidar de los geocachers que en ella duermen. Guardando sus dulces sueños y su buena fortuna.
El mito del Búho el sabio consejero. Cuenta un mito maya que un día las aves de todo el Mayab preparaban un gran banquete en honor a su rey el pavo real, todas las aves fueron invitadas y el Búho fue especialmente mandado a buscar por una comitiva, puesto que él era el gran consejero del rey y se sabía que no le gustaban para nada las fiestas, entonces lo convencieron diciéndole que si no acudía al convite el rey se enfurecería. Entonces el Búho acudió al banquete en donde tenía preparado un lugar especial junto al rey, en medio de la festividad todos estaban divirtiéndose pero el búho se encontraba molesto así que decidió irse, el rey al verlo ir lo obligo a volver a la fiesta y bailar para todos. El búho desde ese día se sintió tan humillado que ya no volvió a salir en público por mucho tiempo, se la pasó encerrado estudiando el libro sagrado de los mayas hasta que descubrió como el pavo real engañó a Puhuy, cuando quiso ir a contárselo a todos descubrió que no podía leer, puesto que sus ojos se habían acostumbrado a la oscuridad de su guarida, desde ese entonces no volvió a salir de día y así fue como los dioses lo castigaron.
