I must take this Ring from my lovely home in the Shire (Flintshire, in the North of Wales, to be precise!) to a great and fiery mountain - however, I cannot complete this task alone... I need your help, my friend!

If you feel that you can help us with this great task, and help the Ring to reach its destination, then please take it from whence you found it, and let it travel with you for a short while!

BUT you must BEWARE! For this Ring has a will of it's own, and is full of dark and mysterious Power - You should not keep it in your posession for too long a time, you see - else it may take a hold of you, and you will never be able to part with it!

Hobbits and Children are the most resistant to it's ill effects (being of a more happy and well intentioned bearing!), so you should have your young folk carry it, if you so wish!

There is an active Volcano called Whakaari (White Island) in the Bay of Plenty - and we would love to have a photo of the Ring at this landmark! (And maybe while it is in NZ, it could visit the Lord of the Rings film set?!)

Not quite Mount Doom but as close to Whakaari (White Island) as this ring will get for sometime to come.
Tragedy struck Whakaari on 9 December 2019, taking the lives of 22 of the 47 people on the island at the time and scaring 25 others for life. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Whakaari_/_White_Island_eruption).
This news article gives an idea of just how volitile the island is at present (https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/475287/whakaari-white-island-may-have-erupted-again-but-no-one-is-sure). It may be many years before scientist venture back to the island and even longer before the public are allowed back, if ever.
Going for the next best option we visited Mount Eden/Maungawhau (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maungawhau_/_Mount_Eden), one of nine dormant volcanoes that make up the isthmus of Auckland City. It has a spectacular creator which is shown in the photographs below. Also featured is the island volcano of Rangitoto taken from Mount Eden a few minutes before we dropped off the ring.
