To look pretty cool in my very small coin collection. Feel free to use the DISCOVERED IT Log option.
I found the three United States A.P.E. caches in a 3-month period in 2005. I wonder if anyone else has found that many as quickly? I'm kinda just curious, ya know? (I wasn't even chasing after these Missions, either. My travel schedule JUST coincided with those locations. Pretty cool, if you ask me.)
The earliest page of this travel bug's logs contain the text from my three A.P.E. logs.
The only other one available right now is in Brazil. mtn-man found a fourth one in the U.S. back in, like .... oh, 1891 or something.

It's always so much fun trying (and failing) to explain what A.P.E. was ... and still is.

It all began one blustery March 2006 evening at 3rd Wednesdays (invented by MissJenn) as I just happened to mention I was traveling to Maryland/D.C. area to meet up with my sister and brother-in-law, fellow cachers. MissJenn then described this ape thing and how we MUST do this cache. I wasn't getting it much. Then the cache info about secret agents...?? Then I told my sister. No help there. Well, within an hour of meeting up with my them, my sister and I dutifully ran out and found this apey thing. HUGE cache box. We looked at each other, shrugged and signed the log. Fast forward, August 2006, again 3rd Wednesdays. MissJenn shows up with this ape thing, now in geocoin form. I discover it, I read the info link...Oh, ape...A.P.E.! I did one of those! Thanks MissJenn. Some of us students are sooo dim!

Discovered at the August 2006 Third Wednesday in the company of an adult male dubbed Spoon!'s Simian Specie. While clearly of a feral nature, this specimen was obviously socialized and had no trouble dominating the group. Further studies will be required to determine if the observed behavior is the result of proximity to other geocoins over a prolonged period of time.

I discovered this coin at 3rd Wednesday.
There! That being said, this is a cute coin and as we haven't had the opportunity to actually find a Project A.P.E. cache, logging the coin is the next best thing 😁

Neat, unique coin. Still foggy on the whole A.P.E. project and as required by MissJenn, I'm saying a little more than just "discovered at 3rd Wednesday." The shape of the coin for one is defintely different and the idea itself was pretty interesting. Thanks!

It's so funny to compare my teeny coin collection to those of other folks: I have no binder or special case. I just had this ONE coin with me today! Who needs a binder for THAT?
I always enjoy looking at other people's collections though. I mostly stand in awe ... well, sit in awe, actaully. There is so much creativity out there.

I like the coin design and I thank MissJenn for the opportunity to find it at he SEPAG shindig. My first and only APE cache was last year at "Mission #7 Crab Creek". I teamed up with Frodo_underhill and we drove through 3 states to get it. It was also my #1300, so I will always remember that day.
