About This Item

Sailfish underway/patches

DBF (Diesel Boats Forever) is the motto of the sailors on the old diesel submarines. My (now ex)husband, DBF, (gee, where did he get that caching name?) served on two of the diesels, the USS Sailfish (SSR-572) and the USS Barbel (SS-580). The original travel bug was a sillhouette of the Sailfish, which now resides in the mothball fleet at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, WA.

3-6-04 DBF#1 has gone to the graveyard. DBF#2 is now ready for launching. It is a picture of the Sailfish and two styles of patches. Oops, DBF found a tiny metal submarine, so it's on the keychain now.

I placed this TB in my cache. I did get a photo of the sub near the cache. Enjoy.

  • DBF on the Savage River I didn't get anywhere near a submarine base, but there is a nice little creek near my duck..duck..duck..Duck cache.

Picked up the DBF from the Cache for Vets this morning. I am pretty sure I can not get it on a sub, but I'll move it along just the same.
