Grabbing the bug back.
The next weekend (April 21-23) I took the Yellow Scout Bug Bug to the 2006 Order of the Arrow W5D Section Conclave. Order of the Arrow (OA) is an honor society for scouts and scouters in the BSA. Each council in the BSA has an OA lodge associated with it. A Section Conclave is a gathering of all the lodges in a section of a region of the BSA. Our section, W5D, is made of four lodges; Awaxaawe' Awachia, EL-KU-TA, Shunkah Mahneetu, and Tu-Cubin-Noonie. These lodges combined cover all of Utah, Eastern Idaho, Western Wyoming, and two small portions in Arizona and Nevada. As you might guess lodge members traveled far to attend the three day event.
During the Conclave, the boys and adults enjoyed and excellent stage show featuring a hypnotist, a morning of classes with options ranging from cooking and outdoor skills to leadership and Native American Culture, and working together on a service project. There was also a Pow-Wow showcasing native American dance and Saturday evening always has games and competitions. Sunday was exceptional with a fully scout run church service and the highlight and main meeting of the conclave when the boys elected their section chief and officers who will represent them in the region and potentially nationally.
This years conclave was held in Ogden, Utah at Ogden High School.
During conclave I meet another scouter/geocacher who goes by the geocaching name of drugan and passed your bug to him.
Good Luck in Your Travels!
