Current Goal

This coin is to celebrate Webfoot's 1400th cache find and 3blackcats' 1900th cache find - both found on the same day! Webfoot's #1400th find was Paper by Daisy Adair (GC12W30). 3blackcats' #1900th find was Just Breathe by fontanabill. (GC110W0 )

About This Item

Ooohhh....shiny...

This gorgeous coin is a silver astrolabe by Christopher Rake. It's a coin that's two inches in diameter and HIGHLY detailed. We both love Christopher Rake coins, and I thought this would be a GREAT way to celebrate our same-day milestones. I picked the coin, Webfoot picked the color.

The day was gorgeous, and we littered the Lytle Creek, California, landscape with many beautiful coins. We saw red-tailed hawks, countless lizards and ONE gorgeous rattlesnake that scared the pants off of us :)

Did not find in GC1HM3N. Suspect vandalism of cache.

Couldn't see it in "Victoria's Best Kept Secret" - probably in the possession of a Xmas traveller who is yet to log it.

I set out today at 8:50am with my wife Pam, with three objectives in mind.
1) Reach dashpoint GD AA-YLUK near Warburton
2) Reach dashpoint GD AA-YLOT near South Pakenham, and
3) Find this cache and retrieve the Webfoot geocoin (which I now notice is actually owned by 3blackcats)
Webfoot is in another Geodashing Team I compete with and lives in California.
We arrived at the location just after 4pm having achieved the first two objectives.
I had a quick scout around and then saw something suspicious. Sure enough, and the cache was retrieved from its hiding place.
It was in excellent condition, and well stocked with swaps. It’s great to find a large cache like this (Stamp out micros !!)
I didn’t have any swaps, so took and left nothing, but moved on two geocoins, the 3blackcats/Webfoot Astrolabe and Broilers Worldwide Traveller.
Thanks for the cache.

  • The Astrolabe Here the Astrolabe is examined by DashingDogMac, MadamDash and GeoffJ3191, in Geoff's backyard prior to the consumption of some celebratory beverages. These three compete against Webfoot in GeoDashing, and it was interesting to have something which had passed through his hands. Since this photo was taken, Geoff has placed the Astrolabe in a cache at Broken Hill in the outback, about 900 km north west of here in Melbourne.
