About This Item

Astrolabe in Orbit 2

Don't keep this coin - it is not a trade item!

This is a copy of my silver Astrolabe geocoin that was lost or stolen. The original coin was sent out to travel, but disappeared from a cache. It has been missing for almost three years, so I made this copy coin to travel in its place. Hopefully, the replacement coin will last longer and travel more than the original did.

Please try to keep this geocoin moving. Place it in another cache within two weeks if you can.

An Astrolabe geocoin (not this particular coin, but the Astrolabe coin with tracking number TB16CKV) became the first geocoin in orbit on February 7, 2008 when it went up on Space Shuttle Atlantis mission STS-122 with Dr. Stan Love and made over 200 orbits around the earth at an altitude of 213 miles. It was in orbit for almost 13 days and traveled a total distance of over five million miles at up to 17,660 miles per hour. This shuttle mission visited the International Space Station to install the Columbus scientific module. This Astrolabe geocoin is sent out to travel in honor of that accomplishment.

Please help this geocoin travel around from cache to cache and have some adventures on its journey. Pictures of the geocoin at caches or interesting places would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Blue skies and happy caching!
