Current Goal

Hi! I am one of four trackables placed by USA Girl Scouts Overseas Junior Troop 526 from Stuttgart, Germany. We are part of a CITO (Cache In Trash Out) series encouraging people to pick up litter while out treasure hunting. Please help us make the world a better place by picking up litter while out caching and helping us get to the four Girl Scout World Centers and Savannah, Georgia, the birth place of Girl Scouts and our founder Juilette Gordon Low. All four trackables have the same mission and we are racing to see who gets their mission completed first! Please take me to:

  • Pax Lodge; London, England
  • Our Chalet; Adelboden, Switzerland
  • Our Cabana; Cuernavaca, Mexico
  • Sangam; Pune, India
  • Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace; Savannah, Georgia

Visited 12/26/2019 Wombatwandering took it to Pico do Facho Arquipélago da Madeira, Portugal - 55.5 miles  Visit Log

You caught the ferry to Madeira’s other inhabited island, Porto Santo. Went for a hike and climbed the highest peak on the island - Pico do Facho. Had lunch on the top and got fingers nibbled by the lizards. 🦎

Visited 12/25/2019 Wombatwandering took it to Calheta Arquipélago da Madeira, Portugal - 6.88 miles  Visit Log

Merry Christmas! We drove to Calheta for lunch and a swim in the ocean. Never done that for Christmas before. Back to Funchal for Christmas dinner and some sparkling Australian Shiraz. 🎅🏻

Visited 12/24/2019 Wombatwandering took it to CABO GIRÃO EARTHCACHE - M9 Arquipélago da Madeira, Portugal - 17.36 miles  Visit Log

Last stop was the 580m high sea cliff, Cabo Girão. Fantastic views up and down the coast and I loved the gum trees and wattles around here, even if they are introduced species. Makes me homesick, esp at this time of the year. 😢

Visited 12/24/2019 Wombatwandering took it to Semana do Mar Arquipélago da Madeira, Portugal - 3.71 miles  Visit Log

You stopped in at Porto Moniz on the far north western corner of Madeira. Fantastic rock pools to swim in next to the crashing waves of the Atlantic. 🏊‍♀️

Visited 12/24/2019 Wombatwandering took it to The Giant Arquipélago da Madeira, Portugal - 17.19 miles  Visit Log

A spot of hiking for you in the Fanal area, Western Madeira. Gorgeous old laurel trees. Reminds of the Ents in Lord of the Rings. The area is often shrouded in mist which gives it an otherworldly look but today it was blue sky (and wind). 🧙🏼‍♂️

Visited 12/23/2019 Wombatwandering took it to Mystic Garden Arquipélago da Madeira, Portugal - 2.29 miles  Visit Log

You took the gondola lift to Monte above Funchal and enjoyed the view. It was OK, I assume it’s for people who don’t leave the city whereas we’ve seen the views from the mountains and they are orders of magnitude better. Walked back down to Funchal and enjoyed the fun (and poncha) of Noite do Mercado. 🍹

Visited 12/22/2019 Wombatwandering took it to Madeira - Meet and greet Arquipélago da Madeira, Portugal - 6.27 miles  Visit Log

Made it safely down the mountains and through the clouds and took you to an event in Funchal where the host brought Belguim chocolate. 🍫

Visited 12/22/2019 Wombatwandering took it to The Mountain is Calling Arquipélago da Madeira, Portugal - 1.82 miles  Visit Log

The start and finish of your walk was Pico Areeiro. We walked about 20km today rather than the 2.94 as the crow flies... the mountains here are fantastic. Now to drive back down the steep roads to Funchal. ❤️

Visited 12/22/2019 Wombatwandering took it to Virtual Reward @ Pico Ruivo 1861 Arquipélago da Madeira, Portugal - 1,541.89 miles  Visit Log

Today you hiked from Pico Arieiro to Pico Ruivo, Madeira’s highest mountain (1861m). It was a fantastic hike - rugged peaks, vertigo inducing arêtes, sheer drop offs, tunnels requiring head torches, some snow on the ground, chains for down climbing some other peaks we climbed, and incredible views. Truly one of the best hikes I’ve ever done. ⛰

After the bad weather, it’s a beautiful day in Madeira today. Took the geohiremobile to the Far East of the Island and walked out to Ponta de São Lourenço. Really gorgeous. Great seeing all the volcanic geology. 🌋
