Current Goal

Collecting photographs of insects from all over the world.

Dear Geocachers,

a travel bug is nothing special without collecting photographs or even a little information of the places the bug has travelled. In this manner the log is just a boring point on a map. Therefore go ahead and make the TB´ s owners happy and send them pictures and stories.

Crawley the Entomologist consists of three parts: The Travel Bug, an information tube and Crawley himself! Do not keep anything, please.

About This Item

Crawley the Entomologist

ENGLISH VERSION BELOW!

Hi!

Hi! I´m Crawley the entomologist!
I would like to know insects from all over the world.

Insects are of great importance for our world. They are responsible for pollination of plants, they help to recycle plant remains and carcasses and they serve as a food source for animals – including humans. Therefore, insects play a decisive role for the conservation of many ecological systems.
But insects are in danger worldwide! For instance, the agricultural use of pesticides and monocultures decreases the biodiversity of the insects and the numbers of individuals within the species. Thereby many food chains and ecological systems in our world are endangered.

I would like to motivate tall and small geocachers all over the world to take a friendly look at our insects. Take a look around near the geocaches. Can you find any insects or other arthropodes? Look how beautiful they are! Ain´t they worth to be protected?
Some insects are able to glow in the dark. This skill is called bioluminescense. My Travel Bug is able to glow as well. ;)

To log this Travel Bug take a photograph of any insect or any other arthropode. Load it up to my personal webpage at Geocaching.com and leave a short note where you have found it. Do you know more about this species? Let me know.

All crawlers are beautiful!
