Nach Nome Alaska und zurück in die Schweiz
Balto (um 1919-14.3.1933 ) war ein Siberian Huski,der als Leithund des letzten Schlittenhundegespanns im Serum Run to Nome 1925 weltberümt wurde. Balto wahr der Leithund des Gespanns von Gunnar Kaasen, der die letzte Etappe des Staffellauf von Nenana nach Nome,Alaska absolwierte .
Jetzt findet zur Ehre der damaligen staffel eines der härtesten langstrecken (ca.1800 km) Rennen statt (immer erste woche im März) das Iditarod (http://iditarod.com/)
Das Yukon Quest ist auch ein hartes langstreckenrennen (ca.1600km) findet immer im Februar statt. (http://yukonquest.com/de) Ein Buch über eine teilname das ich empfehlen kann Kalte Schnauzen-Kalte Hände (ISBN 3-89811-312-4)
