The Suncatcher is a three ring, single piece design. The outer rings are a 1.625" in diameter; the center ring is 1.75" in diameter. The overall width of the coin is 3.425".
The coin features the state of California draped by the state flower, the California Poppy in the left side ring.
The California Quail is featured in the right side ring.
The center ring features the host venue for Geocoinfest Long Beach - The Queen Mary.
There will only be 60pcs of this edition produced.
Upon the outbreak of World War II, the Queen Mary was transformed into a troop carrier and ferried Allied soldiers for the duration of the war.
Following WWII, the Queen Mary was refitted for passenger service and resumed her transatlantic cruises through 1967. At that time she was retired from service and sailed to the port of Long Beach, California and permanently moored there ever since.
GEOCOINFEST 2017 was held inside the extravagant Britannia Salon and Victoria Room aboard the iconic
RMS Queen Mary.
