I grabbed this while on a nice walk along the spit in Sooke, BC. I have been north of the Arctic Circle in Alaska, but never in Canada. This TB hails from the farthest north that I have seen. I will bring it south with me to Seattle where I will release it for more geo adventure!

What an awesome geo-coin we found today - all things north excite me! My husband worked in Alert many years ago - once was to arrange a directional drill which went out a distance from shore to install listening devices to detect potential submarine activity. The other project involved flying over Arctic coastal areas to record ice masses for ship passage. (or something along those lines). (& personally, I have lived in Yellowknife and have travelled to Churchill and Reykjavik - none of which are remotely as far as Alert of course). This beautiful coin is currently under the guard of Mr. Beagle. Thank you for the amazing find, we will make sure to move this along soon!
