That is a target rate of five drops per year for five years, or a drop every 73 days. The average drop rate of my trackables in the US is 124 days, in Europe it is 71 days. As of 15-Apr-24 this trackable had survived for 3.3 years and had been moved by 14 cachers, for an average drop every 87 days, or 4.2 drops per year. Please keep it moving, then drop it in a safe place!

No permission is needed to leave the U.S. While in the U.S., please drop it at an event, in a Premium Member only OR a rural cache near a busy trail or road. Do not place it in an urban, non-premium cache. Transport the bug in the original plastic bag for as long as the bag lasts; the bag keeps the trackable clean and dry, protects the number and prevents tangling with other items. Otherwise, take the trackable anywhere you wish.

About This Item

This travel bug is made of one or more small decorative metal sprockets and washers. They are mostly watch and clock parts sold as beads to steampunk crafters. It is one of a series named for tools or machines that have metal, composite or plastic cogs on sprockets, cogwheels or gears. Several kinds of motors are listed, but so also are machines that have cogs apart from their motors.

I regret to inform you, but feel that as the CO of the cache this trackable was in, that this may be missing now. I went to check on the cache yesterday, and the container inside the birdhouse was missing. I am hoping someone took it with the intention of moving the trackables within, not realizing this was the cache container. But, as of now, the container has been pillaged and all contents (trackable, stamps, logbook, pencils, path tags) are all missing. Sorry that this has happened, but I felt I needed to inform you so you know and can decide on the next steps for this trachable. My apologies and I sincerely hope this trackable resurfaces soon. Ran out this morning to make an FTF attempt (I got it!) and on the drive back I hit up a TB hotel and discovered this and others temporarily housing here. I took some to stay at my TB Hostel, others I just said hi to and left for another cacher. This is a fun little traveler and I am glad to discover. Thanks for sharing and happy travels!
