Current Goal

I maintain records on my trackables. They have the goal to circulate more than five years and to be moved by at least 25 cachers. That is a target rate of five drops per year for five years, or a drop every 73 days. The average drop rate of my trackables in the US is 124 days, in Europe it is 71 days. As of 9-Dec-23 this trackable had survived for 4.2 years and had been moved by 15 cachers, for an average drop every 103 days, or 3.6 drops per year. Please keep it moving, then drop it in a safe place!

No permission is needed to leave the U.S. While in the U.S., please drop it at an event, in a Premium Member only OR a rural cache near a busy trail or road. Do not place it in an urban, non-premium cache. Transport the bug in the original plastic bag for as long as the bag lasts; the bag keeps the trackable clean and dry, protects the number and prevents tangling with other items. Otherwise, take the trackable anywhere you wish.

About This Item

Each black wheel in this series of travel bugs represents one of the hundred most collected American-made production automobiles (see here). The TBs in this collection include only cars made between the years of my birth and marriage…these are some of the cars I grew up with. A few had limited production and cost a fortune whereas others were sold to families and were relatively inexpensive. Some had eye-catching designs, others had technological advances, still others had chassis' that were popular fodder for later street rods. Whatever the case, there is somehing about all of them that makes collectors compete for ownership.

Unique styling, cutting-edge engineering, limited production and the intrigue surrounding its production and subsequent failure that turned it into a Hollywood legend of the silver screen make the Tucker a candidate for one of the Top 10 collector cars of all time. It’s one of a few cars that even non-car people know a lot about.
