The mission of the Vandenberg is to travel the US and the world, visiting as many nautical sites as possible.
The USNS Vandenberg began her career as a transport ship. It was inactivated and then reactivated by the US Air Force as a radar tracking ship and used to track satelites and other space vehicle for NASA. In 2009 the Vandenberg was intentionally sunk as an artificial reef off Key West, FL.
The Vandenberg is now the second largest artificial reef in the world and is a destination dive for many SCUBA divers.
