This geocoin was given to me by my geo-friend ecpirate! OK, here's the story: It happened at GC10391 'Weeks Park #2 - ****** Found this one out in the open. Got nailed by a copperhead when I picked the container up. Use a stick to roll the container over before picking up just in case it's still in the neighborhood. Could have happened any where. I'm glad to report I'm on the mend. Thanks for the cache Dougee! ****** There was a juvenile copperhead curled up under the cache. When I picked the container up, it bit me. I drove to Johnston Memorial Emergency Department in Smithfield for treatment. They wanted to admit I but I had to be home. I took a lot of pain meds that night. My hand is swollen down to mid-forearm. It got me on the tip of my index finger. It happened at Weeks Park in Newton Grove. The container is a sm round tupperware & it was exposed. I grabbed it from the top. The snake was underneath. My hand never touched the ground. Even though they are poisonous it is one of the mildest poisons from a snake bite but very painful. They don't give the anti-venom any more unless you have a severe systemic reaction from the bite because the side effects can be worse than the bite. The main treatment is to ice it & elevate it. I figured I could do that at home.
