This is Chief Wasatch of Murray Utah, he is near and dear to me. As a child I lived in a city with another Chief Kno-Tah in Hillsboro Oregon, I stumbled across Cheif Wasatch the week I moved from Oregon to Utah while homesick. He gave me peace and familiarity in a new strange place. Carved in only 3 months in 1985 (just 2 years apart from my hometown chief) by Peter Wolf Toth while living in a Van. His goal was to place one in all 50 states, in 1988 he accomplish his goal. A series called The Whispering Giants, as they are about 18 feet tall before they are placed on a base.
Toth's sculptures have even become something of a hobby for some people. In the pastime of GeoCaching, many of the Whispering Giants have been pinpointed by GeoCachers and are awaiting your visit.
