Destination...............the bottom of Lake Superior
........................."In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed
in the maritime sailors' cathedral, the church bell chimed 'til it rang 29 times for each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald." -Gordon Lightfoot.
The ship went down in Lake Superior on November 10, 1975 with 29 men on board.
There is estimated to be more than 6000 commercial shipwrecks in the Great Lakes, and less than half of these have been located.
A small remembrance as it may be, this coin's ultimate goal is to be thrown into Lake Superior.
