My piece of the booty from August's 4 week Mary Hyde souvenir challenge. It was a pirate themed event. The bar was set low, so it wasn't much of a challenge for most people I know.
A year from now there will be new cachers who have no idea how it worked. The top 10 finders from your friends list, and yourself, were tracked on a separate page called the Friends League. Each week you got points ("gold coins") for finding caches and logging trackables, and sometimes extra points for finding caches with 10 or more favorite points. Each week, by yourself or with your group, to had to earn at least 40 points. There was a souvenir each week and one at the end. If you earned the completion souvenir, there was a code word on it which you entered into a form, after which Groundspeak would send you a trackable code. Some people (like me) did not receive their codes in their email, so we had to contact Groundspeak through the website. They responded to me within the hour, so I'm satisfied. I was all set to receive all emails, so who knows why it didn't arrive.
The trackable codes are the booty. Nobody received a physical tag of any kind, so basically it's simply a code you can put on anything and send it out as a travel bug.
