Diese Geocoin wurde im Auftrag von www.geoclub.de, dem größten deutschsprachigen Geocaching-Forum, entworfen.

Sie ist eine Homage an Carl Friedrich Gauß, der bei Geocachern vor allem durch das von ihm zusammen mit Johann Heinrich Louis Krüger entwickelte Gauß-Krüger-Koordinatensystem bekannt ist.

Dieses Koordinatensystem wird besonders im deutschsprachigen Raum seit 1923 genutzt. Sehr viele amtliche topografische Kartenwerke bauen auf dem Gauß-Krüger-Koordinatensystem auf.

Bekannt geworden ist Gauß jedoch als einer der genialsten Mathematiker, die je gelebt haben. Darüber hinaus war er unter anderem ein erfolgreicher Astronom.

I feel very guilty about holding this bug for so long. I have taken an unplanned break from geocaching, but am getting back on track.

I thought is might help to log some miles, since I was heading out on vacation.
