Please help this UPS Truck for My Dad travel to Seattle, WA - to the birthplace of UPS, Waterfall Gardens at the corner of 2nd and Main. There is a plaque here honoring James E. (Jim) Casey, the founder of UPS. (Micro @ site = GCHXVJ)
Reading how far this has traveled, brings such joy to my heart. Dad has been gone 14 years now - and the pain still remains. He would be absolutely tickled at the adventures this truck has had! THANK YOU ALL!
My Dad passed away 5/13/2003, 4 years to the day prior to day of activation 5/13/2007, and this bug rested upon his stone as I visited him for a few brief moments on the day of activation. While he was not working at UPS at the time he died, it was a major portion of his adult life, and the reason for so many hours spent building a life for his family. Dad would take us to major hubs and give us tours, he took us to the grand 75th anniversary gala as a family vacation (no kidding) - and he took us to the Jim Casey plaque in Seattle, WA on another family vacation. My Dad was proud of what he had accomplished with UPS, and worked hard year after year - even joked that all of us kids weren't delivered by the stork, but by a UPS package truck. I love my Dad, and believe with my whole soul that because we still have him in our hearts, he hasn't missed one smile, tear, or bout of family laughter just because he has gone ahead to make a place for us. We miss him desperately, but see his smile in the faces of each other, and in the faces of his grandchildren. I love you Dad.
