We went to see the Merlion fountain tonight. Lovely lights around Marina Bay. The Merlion is the official mascot of Singapore - a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. Spouting water from its mouth, the Merlion statue stands at 8.6 metres and weighs 70 tonnes. Originally located at the mouth of the Singapore River, it had to be moved to Marina Bay because of land reclamation. 🧜♀️

Took a look around the Fort Canning Hill today. It is believed that the Fort Canning Hill area was once the centre of ancient Singapura that thrived in the 14th century. The Malays called the hill Bukit Larangan or Forbidden Hill because of the belief that it is the place where the kings of ancient Singapore were laid to rest. The unique blend of historical relics, lush greenery and expansive lawns has made Fort Canning a hub of cultural and artistic activity. 🐲

Welcome to Singapore. I really like Singapore and have been here many times so it’s easy for me to get around. This time, south-east Asia is experiencing a major heat wave so I’m not planning on doing too much. 🇸🇬
