TFTC!
Flew out for the Yuma Mega a few days early.
Also get to see my oldest and her dog in Phoenix for a couple days after the BIG event.
DAY 1- after landing in Phoenix and dropping my wife off my travels took me east to a new county and a handful of caches around Globe AZ.
DAY 2. Started just outside Safford AZ. After hitting up a couple new counties close by I took the trip down to Tombstone for some “culture” and a whiskey. Made my way over to Santa Cruz county for 14 caches then ended my day with a pair in Tucson.
DAY 3. I stayed around Tucson with some neighborhood caching close to UofA in the morning and some dirt road caching just outside of town in the afternoon. Visited the city’s oldest bar at noon for a break. The bartender gifted me a T-Shirt. I joined some locals for a CITO a couple hours before watching a barn burner of a basketball game at UofA. They beat #3 Iowa State. Had to be the loudest game I have been to.
DAY 4. Caching the highway between Tucson and Yuma. Finding 26 caches on the way to Yuma it was time to go to an event and a couple more caches before heading to my rented room to settle in. I ended up walking downtown to do an earthcache and a couple adventure labs after dark. Ending the night with a drink at a place downtown and dinner delivered back to the room.
DAY 5. After an early event and a day out on the range, where I found 102 caches w/ no DNFs it was time for a dinner event downtown and some caches in Yuma proper. I ended the long long day with a drink at another of downtown Yuma’s bars before walking the block back to my room. I ended the day with 115 finds and no DNFs. That’s the best solo caching day I’ve had. My biggest day was 125 caching with my wife around Cisco Texas.
DAY 6- After heading to a CITO in the morning and finding four physical caches and 20 labs in the park I booked it on back out to the Range. I made a couple stops that I thought would be quick but, I was wrong. I spent about four hours on the range before the 1.5 hour drive to the event north of Yuma. Then down to the night event at the park. I ended the day with 91 caches but my body feels like I did 500. I had a handful of DNFs on the day too.
DAY 7- After a full week in AZ now I’ve found just over 400 caches. Last I checked I came up just 14 short of by beat month’s total. I’ve already found more caches in 2025 than all of 2024. On day seven I found 60 caches but more than half was events and labs.
DAY 8- A pair of events, 61 caches, and some time in the desert means a great catching day. I finished off the day with a couple drinks close to the room and probably the best meal of the trip so far.
DAY 9- It’s Block Party day! A few early morning labs and on to spend a couple hours at the event.
Thanks,
