Navy Blue and Gold

Navy Blue and Gold must visit both the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, and the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD, before attending an Army-Navy football game. Hopefully it will visit as many U.S. military installations and be handled by as many military geo-cachers as possible along its way

Hello fellow patriots and military geo-cachers!

The United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland was established in 1845 "to develop midshipmen morally, mentally, and physically and to imbue them with the highest ideals of duty, honor, and loyalty in order to provide graduates who are dedicated to a career of naval service and have potential for future development in mind and character to assume the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship, and government." As a 25 1/2 year veteran of the U.S. Navy and a 1986 graduate of USNA I have learned many things. Principally, as I approach my retirement in October 2007, I have learned that the Academies, all of them, have charted a noble if not always achieveable path for the young people who enter and leave these institutions each year. Also, much like our own families, the U.S. Armed Forces, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard are a family unto themselves. In the end, family matters most.

Whether you are a member of the Armed Forces or not, I hope you will take on the true spirit of family and "jointness" to help "Navy Blue and Gold" achieve its goal.
