    This was my third time coming to Corkscrew Swamp Audoubon Nature Preserve. One of the best in the state of Florida. I have traveled and lived in Florida all my life(46 yrs) and this place is amazing. Volunteers with very large telescopes allow you to see wildlife like never before. They have walkie talkies and if there is a sighting of a bird/animal it reaches these volunteers at other location on the boardwalk and they let visitors know about this sighting and where its located. A must see place if your in South Florida and the Everglades!

    • Gator Hole in Corkscrew Swamp Wildlife Santuary The water level was extremely low so this gator created his/her own waterhole by digging in the muck til it reached water. In doing so, it created a haven for water birds and fish. You can see a Wood Stork, Great White Heron and a Snowy Egret flying over the gator. The gator could careless about these birds because it was gorged on fish.
