Unicorn - Hidden Creature TB

The unicorn is a legendary creature that has been described since antiquity as a beast with a single large, pointed, spiraling horn projecting from its forehead. In European folklore, the unicorn is often depicted as a white horse-like or goat-like animal with a long horn and cloven hooves (sometimes a goat's beard).

In the Middle Ages and Renaissance, it was commonly described as an extremely wild woodland creature, a symbol of purity and grace, which could be captured only by a virgin. In the encyclopedias, its horn was said to have the power to render poisoned water potable and to heal sickness.

  • Unicorn TB at Holland Lighthouse Nicknamed "Big Red", the lighthouse at Holland State Park is a popular destination.
  • Unicorn TB at frozen Lake Michigan Picture taken from the pier, looking back toward shore. Lake Michigan is frozen from for what appears to be 2 or more kilometers from shore. At the peak of a really cold winter, as much as 90% of the lake will freeze over.
  • Unicorn TB looking out at Lake Michigan Ice as far as I can see. With binoculars, I could see water beyond the ice, but I can't even guess how many kilometers that is. The water you see in the picture is where the channel meets the lake. The movement of the water makes that area melt first.
