About This Item

Yin Fu TB

Tribute to Yin Fu TB is designed to develop awareness of the Chinese Martial Art known as Bagua Zhang. Dong Haichuan is credited with developing this fighting system in the mid-1800s. He became an instructor to the Imperial Body Guards in the Imperial City in Beijing, China. His best student was a man by the name of Yin Fu. (There is a Tribute to Dong Haichuan TB too [see TB191K2]. This art is not well-known in the west. Hopefully, geocachers that help it along the way will take the time and learn a little about Bagua Zhang. Just do a Google search. There is a ton of information available on the Internet concerning this system.

Bagua Zhang or The Eight Trigrams Palm is a martial art based on the ancient Chinese book "The I Ching" and it's philosophy. It uses the eight trigrams, the sixty-four hexagrams, and its theories of Yin and Yang to describe fighting tactics, postures, forces used in fighting, and the health exercises that are contained inside Bagua Zhang.

Bagua could be described as guerilla warfare, as compared to other martial arts that use the traditional military tactics of fighting in straight line formations. Bagua is known for its circle walking, in which a person continually walks around an imaginary center, building leg strength, balance while moving, and speed and agility while stepping, which are integral in Bagua Zhang. It makes use of all that the human body can offer up as a weapon. Using fists, open palms, back of the wrists, elbows, shoulder, hips, knees and feet to deliver strikes. In order to generate the lethal strikes, Bagua uses numerous methods of generating power, practicing all of the methods repeatedly to harness and focus power.

My bagua lineage flows from Dong Haichuan to Yin Fu to Men Baozhen to Xie Peiqi to the current lineage holder, He Jinbao.

If you are a fellow Bagua enthusiast or are interested in learning more drop me an email or post a picture in the gallery.
