Christoph Kolumbus – 530 Jahre Entdeckung von Amerika
1492 - 2022
Wer kennt nicht die ruhmreiche Geschichte von Christoph Kolumbus?
Eigentlich wollte er einen neuen Seeweg nach Indien finden.
Am 3. August 1492 nahm Kolumbus mit drei Schiffen - Santa Maria, Pinta und Niña - vom Hafen Palos aus Westkurs ins Unbekannte. Reisende hatten von den Schätzen Asiens berichtet. Auf der Suche nach Gewürzen und Seide verließen er und seine Mannschaft am 3. August 1492 die katalonische Küste und fuhren in Richtung Süd-West, also mit Kurs auf die Kanarischen Inseln.
12. Oktober 1492. "Die Küste ist nicht weit", erzählt Christoph Kolumbus seinen ungeduldigen Matrosen seit Wochen schon. Doch bislang hat er sein Versprechen nicht einlösen können. Die Vorräte waren fast aufgebraucht und die Mannschaft wurde immer unruhiger. Ein Aufstand der Männer war eigentlich kaum noch abzuwenden. Kolumbus war schon kurz davor, entmutigt umzudrehen, als ein Matrose im Großmast zunächst ein Schilfrohr, dann einen Holzstamm und dann - weit in der Ferne - einen Landstreifen entdeckte. Aufgeregt bimmelt er die Schiffsglocke. Auf einer der Bahamas-Inseln, die von den dort lebenden Indianern Guanahani genannt wurde, ging Kolumbus und seine Besatzung an Land. Er erklärte sie zum Besitz der spanischen Krone und taufte sie San Salvador.
Mein kleiner TB möchte auf die gleiche Weise Land entdecken. Er kennt weder Amerika noch Indien, auch nicht Australien.
Es würde ihn sehr freuen, wenn ihr ihm mit auf die Reise nehmt, ganz gleich wohin. Lasst ihn die Welt erobern.

Who does not know the glorious story of Christopher Columbus?
Actually, he wanted to find a new sea route to India.
On August 3, 1492, Columbus and three ships - Santa Maria, Pinta and Niña - set out from the port of Palos on a westerly course into the unknown. Travelers had reported the treasures of Asia. In search of spices and silk, he and his crew left the Catalan coast on August 3, 1492, and headed southwest, heading for the Canary Islands.
October 12, 1492. "The coast is not far," Christopher Columbus has been telling his impatient sailors for weeks now. But so far he has not been able to keep his promise. Supplies were almost gone and the crew was growing restless. An uprising of the men was actually hardly to be averted. Columbus was already on the verge of turning around in discouragement when a sailor in the mainmast spotted first a reed, then a log, and then - far in the distance - a strip of land. Excited, he rang the ship's bell. On one of the Bahamas islands, called Guanahani by the Indians living there, Columbus and his crew went ashore. He declared it a possession of the Spanish crown and christened it San Salvador.
My little TB wants to discover land in the same way. He doesn't know America or India, nor Australia.
He would be very happy if you take him on a journey, no matter where. Let him conquer the world.
