Bye, Blue 6-Sider! Have fun hiking past other national parks! I hope the next cacher to find you has a similarly gorgeous day to this one. This road has been here at least since the 1880s when the government planted a benchmark at what is now called Flagpole Knob, and probably much earlier.

Visiting cache CQ CQ CQ in the George Washington National Forest in Rockingham County, VA. Photo taken a few yards above the cache site on Flagpole Knob, el. 4300'. The knob visible next to Blue 6-Sider in the photo is Oak Knob, which also has a cache. I placed both of these over 10 years ago and transferred ownership when my hiking slowed down a bit. If you use your imagination, you can barely see Skyline Drive National Park in the distance above the ridge in the foreground--part of that range is peaking through the mist.

Blue six sider visited a tiny national park today: McPherson Square in Washington, DC, a couple of blocks from the White House. You can barely see him perched on top of the sign. This square is maintained by the National Park Service and has a statue of Major General James McPherson, U.S.A. on his horse. MG McPherson was killed in action during the Civil War.
