Congratulations! You found a Discover the Forest trackable!
Take this Discover the Forest trackable and move it from cache to cache as you explore new trails whether they are in your neighborhood or on a family vacation far from home.
Spending time outdoors has incredible benefits for children. It is known to enhance creativity; improve attention span; and increase problem-solving abilities, yet only 59 percent of parents report regularly or occasionally visiting a forest or park with their families. Experience all nature has to offer by searching for a Discover the Forest trackable at a geocache near you.
This Discover the Forest trackable is provided by Discover the Forest, an initiative from the U.S. Forest Service and the Ad Council. This campaign aims to encourage parents and caregivers to help their families reconnect with nature by experiencing it first-hand. Learn more and get involved in the Discover the Forest campaign at DiscoverTheForest.org.
As you’re exploring the forests, parks, and trails near you, don’t forget to share photos of your family adventures on social media with #DiscoverTheForest.

“#DISCOVER the FOREST” Tag’s Mission is to help people spend time outdoors, traveling from cache to cache and visiting forests and parks along the way.
This trackable is part of the promotion put on by “Discover the Forest + Geocaching.” 1,500 interested geocachers were randomly selected to receive a trackable. This is one of those trackables!
This trackable is dedicated to my sister-in-law Betty. Betty has taught me and many others how to DISCOVER the FOREST. She took me and other members of my family to the Superior National Forest and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) in northern Minnesota. She taught us about wilderness camping and ethics. She made the trips fun with songs and games.
Betty has a goal to make 50 trips to the BWCAW. So far she has made 47 trips. She even made it last summer after suffering a heart attack in April. Betty, may you reach your goal and then some!
This trackable is released on a special day in honor of Betty.
