About This Item

I Believe You Have My Stapler

And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire.

Let's face it, your office space just wouldn't be the same without your favorite stapler! Its distinct style says something about who you are. Its color says something about your outlook on life. Why, if something were to happen to your stapler...like maybe it was stolen...it would be like a part of yourself was missing...perhaps the most precious part of yourself!

Then again, it's just a stapler!

This travelbug wants to get its picture taken in your very own office space. Whether that's a cubicle in some cold, sanitized, Dilbert-esque prairie dog town, or a penthouse office with a view of the cityscape, or even that little corner that you've carved out for yourself in the spare bedroom, take him back there and submit a photo of him in the place where you do that thing you have to do until you retire. Be creative if you want. Place him among your other office supplies or prizes you've found in various caches, or simply sit him there among the mess on your desk that proves that you're still one of the sane ones.

Aside from the obvious reference to the movie "Office Space," this bug is a bit of a tribute to one of the coolest photographic art projects I've ever seen, "The Red Couch: A Portrait of America." This was a photolog of a red velvet couch that was hauled across the nation and photographed in different settings. From inner city streets to the great expanse of Montana to a farmer's field to the trading floor on Wall Street, The Red Couch reflects not only the American landscape but the American spirit.

Maybe the red stapler can do the same.

As with other travelbugs I've released, I've created several "Travelbug Trading Cards" and included them in the ziplock baggie the bug is in. Please take one of these cards to commemorate your participation in getting this bug to it's goal.

Here are my pictures, I hope to have the bug deposited here soon.

  • What a mess!! This is my "Office Space"...extremely messy but hame just the same. This photo will actually motivate me to clean, I'm sure...NOT!!!

Funny thing happened while we were taking this picture....
  • ...is our bug a playa?? They spotted each other across the post-it notes...Could it be "Wuv...twue wuv will fowwow you forwever." Of course, it can't lead to "Marwage, that bwessed awwaingement, that dweam within a dweam."...not when his adventure is just starting...

My first travel bug. I'll have it back in circulation here soon, after the appropriate move to a new cubicle. 4 cubicles in little over a month, got to be a new record 🙂

Starting the bug off with a tour of my own offices. I've got the distinct privilage of trying to maintain three separate offices. Each office has its own character, as you can see from the pictures.

  • Terre Haute First up is my office in the bowels of Harvest Prayer Ministry in Terre Haute, IN. I'm in a cubicle in the basement here and currently share my office with one other guy, though you could easily squeeze 4 into this space. Note the Atomic Fireballs on my desk. I inherited those from the last guy who was here. Everything here is second hand, but it's not terribly uncomfortable...well...the chair sure isn't the best..but the one at home makes up for it.
  • The Man Room This is my office at home. I prefer to call it "The Man Room" because that keeps me from thinking of it purely as an office and more as a place to have fun. Note the geocaching lamp in the background. Oh, the chair here is much more comfortable...big executive office chair that even vibrates....puts me to sleep every time....good thing no one really expects me to work here!
  • A Preacher's Office This is my office at our church's ministry center. You'll note the shelf in the background holding many of the prizes I've won from caches over the last couple years. Also, you see a portion of my library to the right. This office is eternally messy. One day I'll get around to cleaning it up.
