Very large coin with lot of heft. The front has excellent 3-D slightly bold to delicate etched metal work. It depicts various mechanical components of an astrolabe. The reverse uses 3-D etching to show the science side of this coin's use. The outside rim has script that says "Astrolabe- an ancient astological computerused for calculating navigatinal feares". The astrolabe is a historical astronomical instrument used by classical astronomers, navigators, and astrologers. Its many uses included locating and predicting the positions of the Sun, Moon, planets and stars; determining local time given local latitude and vice-versa; surveying; and triangulation. Excellent coin. ------------------------------So many of my caches have been muggled that I only release new GCs as virtuals. If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks. Trade Box
