Lähtöpaikkani Olhava (Suomi) on matalaa aluetta. Vie minut korkeisiin paikkoihin ympäri maailman. Kalliot, vuoret, kaikenlaiset tornit ja korkeat rakennukset kiinnostavat.

My starting point, Olhava (Finland), is a low-lying area. Take me to all kinds of high places around the world. Crags, mountains, all kinds of towers and tall buildings are interesting.

Olhava on noin 150 asukkaan kylä Iin kunnassa Pohjos-pohjanmaalla, Suomessa.

Olhava on karjalankieltä ja tarkoittaa notkoa ja rotkoa, usein vesipohjaista paikkaa.

Vuosina 1783–1885 Olhavassa toimi Nybyn lasitehdas, aikanana se oli yksi pohjoismaiden suurimmista lasitehtaista.

Olhavassa käytiin yksi Lapin sodan ensimmäisistä taisteluista 29.9.1944 suomalaisten ja saksalaisten joukkojen kesken. Taistelussa saksalaiset räjäyttivät Olhavan yhdistetyn rauta- ja maantiesillan. Taistelussa kaatui viisi suomalaista sotilasta, joista tuli Lapin sodan ensimmäiset suomalaiset kaatuneet.

Olhava is a village of about 150 inhabitants in Ii municipality in Pohjos-pohjanmaa, Finland.

Olhava is Karelian and means hollow and gorge, often a watery place.

In the years 1783–1885, the Nyby glass factory operated in Olhava, at the time it was one of the largest glass factories in the Nordic countries.

On September 29, 1944, one of the first battles of the Lapland War took place in Olhava between Finnish and German troops. In the battle, the Germans blew up the Olhava combined rail and road bridge.  Five Finnish soldiers fell in the battle, becoming the first Finnish casualties of the Lapland War.
