The goal of "Anchors Aweigh" is mainly just to travel the world, but if you'd like you can take photos of it with ships, boats or other nautical or Navy-related items. Be creative! :-)
(Be sure to hide the tracking code when taking any pics with the trackable).
(Also, please don't "collect" this trackable, as that will take it out of circulation and spoil the fun. PLEASE do not take this travel bug unless you'll faithfully log it and take it to another cache. I can't tell you how many trackables I've released which have gone missing or stagnant, often after just being in one cache. Please respect the purpose of travel bugs / trackables. Thank you).
Continuing my theme of naming most of my trackables after songs, "Anchors Aweigh" is a march written in 1906 by Charles A. Zimmerman & Alfred Hart Miles and which became the "fight song" for the U.S. Naval Academy in 1907, and subsequently for the U.S. Navy at large. The lyrics have been adapted and updated over the years but the essential theme remains the same.
In 1945 a film of the same name was released, directed by George Sidney and starring Frank Sinatra, Kathryn Grayson and Gene Kelly, and which also features the song.
Many versions of the song have been recorded over the years, including a version by Bing Crosby in 1961.
(A debt of thanks is due to the anonymous person who left this unactivated trackable tag in geocache #GC272MW where I found it on 26 Mar 2019. Much appreciated!)
