Lancelot du Lac est un personnage du cycle des romans de la Table Ronde et un célèbre Chevalier de La légende du roi Arthur. Lancelot est né à Trèbe où il fut enlevé à ses parents et élevé par Viviane (La Dame du Lac) jusqu'à ses 18 ans. Il va ensuite devenir une des figures clés de la Quête du Graal. Lancelot est l'archétype même du chevalier courtois, au service indéfectible de sa dame, étant même prêt à sacrifier son honneur pour rejoindre celle-ci. Cependant, cet amour sera à l'origine de sa perte et l'empêchera de trouver le Saint Graal : seul son fils, Galaad le Pur, aura ce privilège.

 

Lancelot du Lac is a character in the cycle of the novels of the Round Table and a famous Knight of The Legend of King Arthur. Lancelot was born in Trèbe where he was kidnapped from his parents and raised by Viviane (The Lady of the Lake) until his eighteen. He will then become one of the key figures of the Grail Quest. Lancelot is the very archetype of the courteous knight, in the unfailing service of his lady, being ready to sacrifice his honor to join it. However, this love will be at the origin of his loss and will prevent him from finding the Holy Grail: only his son, Galaad the Pur, will have this privilege.
