About This Item

Mir Space Station Patch

Russia's Mir Space Station was in orbit for over 15 years. The first element of the station was launched on February 20, 1986 and reentered the atmosphere on March 23, 2001. This is an official Arm Patch like the ones worn by the cosmonauts that lived aboard the space station

I picked this up yesterday. Unfortunately, I just got back from Baikonur on 03 April. Because it is difficult for the average Geocacher to get into Baikonur (it is still a restricted Russian Missile Base 1300 miles Southeast of Moscow) I will hold on to it until I go back in June or July. I have to figure out a way to log it in, perhaps I will make a virtual cache with rough coordinates - GPS units are not allowed on the base, but we know the location of Pads 23-24-39, from which we could see launches supplying Mir.

  • At the Khrunichev Factory The Mir TB visits the factory where Mir modules were built, in Moscow Russia.
  • The Mir TB visits Red Square The Mir TB visits the government building from which the Mir funding came.
  • The Mir TB and model The Mir TB next to a model of the Mir Space Station
  • The Mir TB at St. Basil's Cathedral The bug stops for services.
