Current Goal

Presents under the tree; the only thing more fun than getting good ones is giving good ones :-D For geocachers, helping newbies learn the ropes, not being nasty when we have trouble finding a cache, and keeping Travelers moving are three ways to give back for all the fun we have! This geocoin wants to spread the Spirit of the Holidays all around the world, to as many caches and cachers as it can, so please keep it moving! If you don't, Santa will take make sure you get nothing but coal from now on :-O If you can post a picture of it on its travels, you will earn brownie... err... elf points :-D Discoveries are always welcome!

About This Item

The coin

One of a series of six geocoins put out by Ranger216; the unifying theme is Christmas with a caching flavor. There are two sets of three geocoins; each set has its own icon. A seventh coin, of an elf dressed as an old-time railroad engineer, was offered in a smaller run and sold mostly to early purchasers of the other six.

The cache that this was last reported as being in was archived, so we took a look at the cache, and were a bit chagrined to see that it has been over four years since it was dropped off. Talk about losing track of it 😮🤭 It was several times noted (on the cache page, never on this geocoin's page) that this had gone missing. The first mention was actually the first on-line log after it was dropped off, so it is likely to have been stolen 👎

In any event, we never leave our travelers in Limbo, so we are retrieving this for burial in an archived cache of ours, and hope that it turns up, some day. And here's the obligatory "rant" for situations like this...

WE HOPE THAT SOMEONE IS JUST BEING VERY SLOW TO LOG THIS, OR THAT THEY FORGOT ABOUT IT, OR MAYBE DIDN'T REALIZE WHAT IT REALLY WAS; IF THIS IS THE CASE, PLEASE RETRIEVE IT, AND THEN DROP IT INTO ANOTHER CACHE AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE. THANK YOU!

HOWEVER...

IF YOU TOOK THIS GEOCOIN WITH NO INTENTION OF MOVING IT ALONG, YOU ARE A THIEF!! WE OWN THIS GEOCOIN; WE SENT IT OUT INTO THE WORLD FOR OTHER PEOPLE TO ENJOY AND TO MOVE ALONG. YOU CANNOT SELL IT OR ADOPT IT; YOU CAN'T EVEN SHOW IT TO OTHERS WITHOUT RISKING THEM FINDING OUT THAT YOU ARE A PETTY CRIMINAL. WE HOPE THAT YOU GET A CONSCIENCE AND DROP THIS INTO A CACHE SOON.

IF YOU SEE THIS GEOCOIN IN THE COLLECTION OF A CACHER OTHER THAN US, BE AWARE THAT IT IS STOLEN PROPERTY.

Hey did you know~

The tradition of the Christmas stockings began by a story told since ancient time about a kind noble man who had three daughters. The wife of the nobleman expired and the daughters and their father were left in a state of sorrow. The daughters had to do all the work in the house. When the daughters became young and eligible for marriage, the poor father could not afford to give the huge dowries to their husbands.

One evening the daughters, after washing their stockings hung them near the fire place to be dried. Santa Claus being moved by the plight of the daughters came in and put in three bags of gold one in each of the stocking hanging by the chimney. The next morning the family noticed the gold bags and the nobleman had enough for his daughter’s marriage. The daughters got married and they lived happily ever after. Since then children have been hanging Christmas stockings.
