Current Goal

This coin is being put out to raise awareness of bikes on the road! Please remember that we on the motorcycles (or even the pedal bikes) have just as much right as anyone else, but MUCH less protection!
Please check your mirrors before changing lanes, look both ways and pay closer attention when making a turn onto or off of a roadway, we might be there!
It only takes one hurried move, one careless push of the gas. When you begin to pull out, if we are coming and see you, we must make a split-second decision...that decision could be life or death!

Tod didn't hit anyone, the truck stopped before pulling all the way into his lane...but this didn't matter as Tod had already committed himself to braking.
Once committed, there's no way to stop the chain of events which will follow.

Please don't make us commit, watch for us and help protect us as we travel.

About This Item

ROLLING STOPS KILL!!

Definitions

rolling stop (California rolling stop) noun

1. An automobile driving maneuver in which a driver slows down, but does not stop, at a stop sign.

2. This is when a driver does not come to a complete stop at a stop sign, generally they slow down to about 5mph, then roll on through. Practiced in many states but got its name in California.

That little Honda driver did a California rolling stop, I almost hit him with my big Land Rover.

ROLLING STOPS KILL!!

Remember, even if you are in a hurry, come to a complete stop and look both ways before you take off.
Because the life you save could be your own or of someone you love.

ROLLING STOPS KILL!!
My Last Ride

My hands are clenched around chrome bars
the engine's rumble sounds so sweet.
I twist the throttle with my palm
and roar off down the street.

The slapping of my leathers
and raging winds on either side,
drum a beat of sweet contentment
as I ride this.....my last ride.

Alone on my tin pony,
to the heavens I've been called,
but fret not my dear loved ones,
I’m not lonely here at all.

The speedometer is just a blur
as tears blow from my eyes,
the bike and I roll forward
off into the calling skies.

I hope I touched your lives one day,
and left a treasured mark,
now I’ll ride on to FOREVER,
with your memory in my heart.

I had the honor of meeting Tod several times. It was always a pleasure to be in his company. I am especially honored that his last days with us on earth were spent in the company of many, many geocachers, including myself. I take away many wonderful memories of that weekend. Tod is truly missed, not just by myself, but by so many others.

Rod, the idea of these coins, to spread awareness is one that is close to my heart as well. I was raised around motorcycles, and know the dangers that riders encounter when dealing with other vehicles on the road. If these coins help prevent just one accident, then they have served an amazing purpose!
