Now that Fly Boy has made it to Kansas, thanks to Kup, please keep him flying far and wide around the world.
Like a cross between a giant bat and a pelican, the Pteranodon weighed up to 45 lbs and had a wingspan wider than a small modern aeroplane. Its wings were made from a strong but light and flexible membrane of skin, allowing it to glide easily rather than having to continuously flap its wings. Its head was longer than its body, with the crest helping it steer in flight and counterbalance the large beak. Pteranodon's beak was long and sharp and may have had a large pouch underneath in which to store fish.
Fossils have been found in parts of Kansas, which was once an inland sea.
