Why the rock?
On December 4, 2021 I experienced one of the best birthdays of my entire existence. I attended the marvolous and rare World of Warcraft TB GIveaway Event (GC9J72X) high above the Mississippi River in Saint Paul, Minnesota. I was privilaged to assist the host of the event, TJnAJ as well as meet many legends of the Minnesota Geocaching community. l So.Much.FUN!!!
After the event around 20+ people joined me to avenge the closest DNF to my home. We scaled the craggy bluff below the WOW event while clinging to tree roots and slabs of rock trying not to tumble down the scree, all so we could leave our name on the log of the elusive, Concrete Rainbow (GCGNJX). We posed for a picture at the bottom of the bluff and as we were dispersing, a geocacher I greatly respect gifted me the TB attached to this rock. Thanks, Grey Wolf and Wild Rice!
Before closing the day, dining and gaming with some of my favorite muggles, I ventured to Lake Elmo Park Reserve for some late afternoon caching. TJnAJ, bflentje, gypsylove and new geo-friends, Jittney hiked the hills in search of our favorite kind of treasure. We kept the muggles and other creatures away with our salty commentary and constant laughter. Pure joy!
So why the rock? Well, I have no idea how it came into my possession but what I do know is that geocaching and the friends I have made through it have filled a hole in my life. These friends while not perfect are ROCK solid. See how I pulled that all together?
In the words of one of the cachers mentioned above: I have found my people!
