My name is Amy the Amethyst. My mission is to travel from Cache to Cache around the world, if possible to visit any sites related to mining, or with interesting rock formations.

Some interesting Facts.......Amethyst is a semiprecious purple stone which occurs in primary hues from a light pinkish violet to a deep purple and because the mineral hardness is the same as quartz, it is often suitable for use in Jewelry.....The ancient Greeks believed amethyst gems could prevent intoxication which is why wine goblets were often carved from it......Medieval European soldiers wore amethyst amulets as protection in battle in the belief that amethysts heal people and keep you cool-headed....It is the traditional Birthstone for the month of February.....Amethyst is the official state gemstone of South Carolina.
